Changing Your Stock Head Unit

(2000-2005 Models)

Ok, I've already done it.

 

But, just for you I'll do it again.

 

 

 

Before you start you will need:

 

Fascia Plate

Harness Adapter

Ariel Adapter

New Radio Head Unit

 

Most Motor Accessories stores will be able to assist.

 

Step 3

Pull off the heater knobs.

Pry out the window switch.

I used a kitchen spatula and a cloth to avoid marking the dash.

 

Pull out gently – There's not much wiring!!

Next, slide out the red tag.

Push down the clip and pull off the connecting block.

With the switch and heater knobs removed, undo the screw.

*Ignore the red bullet connectors*

With a firm grip, pull and remove the center console.

It's held in place by spring clips all round.

 

Finally...

Connect up your new head unit using your facia plate, ariel adapter and wiring harness.

 

Job Done!!

 

Now all you have to do is put it all back....

Remove the four screws from around the radio.

 

Gently pull out the radio because there's not much slack on the wiring.

 

Remove the ariel and the block connector.

Note...there are more wires in the above picture

because I had already changed my head unit and added a amp.
